Taking Action

The effects of climate change on transport can be signficant, but actions can be taken to better understand and plan for climate change, reducing the damage and disruption that can occur.  Actions include identifying vulnerabilities, assessing risk, implementing engineering options to adapt infrastructure to the future climate, making changes to management procedures and policy, and training engineers to increase the capacity to act. These are not discrete activites, but interlinking areas which all have to be addressed to produce a consistent and effective response to climate change.
